When: June 12, 2004
Where: NHIS
Friday 6/12
Left work by 3pm, but since this is the start of bike week in Laconia, there was
a ton of traffic. It took me two hours to get from Boston to Windham NH. I
stopped in at Nault's and did some dyno testing on the 125, with disappointing results.
Went up to the track, did registration and set up for saturday.
Saturday 6/13
I took the 250 out in red practices, and the 125 out in yellow.
125 GP
I got a horrible start and went into T1 dead last of the experts. Not a
good outlook. We got a red flag after lap 1, when the ambulance had to pick someone
up in T1. I got a better start on the restart but again got bumped back into T1.
On the second lap of the restart, I got caught up in a multiple bike crash between
T8 and 9. I was side by side with someone when there was a high-side right in front
of us. The person on my right hit the bike and went flying, and I was on the brakes
as hard as I could. I somehow managed to get through the mess, but lost all touch
with the field. It ended up being a pretty lonely race.
LWGP
We got called to the grid, but then got sent back to the garages, as there was a big
cleanup to do in T3 and T12. By the time we got back out there, I was completely
unmotivated. I raced the race, but not very hard (or well). I was especially
slow in T3 going through all the pixie dust. I ended up getting lapped about 20 feet
before start/finish. Oh well.
I went to dinner with some people then went home.
